Re-Introducing Myself!

Hi there!

It is on social media now to re-introduce yourself to your audience so I figured I also need to give a fresh update. For those of you new to my page and/or business, I am so glad you are here!

My name is Anne-Marie Eddy and I live on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, 7 miles off the coast of Massachusetts. My husband, Jim and I moved from Boston to the Island 26 years ago to start a tent and party rental company. Yes, I convinced my husband to leave his law practice and dive into a business he knew nothing about. After lots of hard work he made have made Big Sky Tent & Party Rentals one of the premier event rental businesses on the Island today.

We also started our family here and have 3 beautiful daughters; Skylar (22), Kayla (22) and Annabel (18).

In 2013 I started painting custom furniture for Island customers using a quick drying, gorgeous paint that I also sold in my store. My first location was an adorable; a little studio virtually on the Vineyard Haven harbor. I named it Refabulous Decor. I was soon hosting workshops teaching others how to use this paint at least 2-3 times per month and really enjoyed it.

While my kiddos were at school I would spend luxuriously hours there creating and mixing paint and waxing furniture and having a blast! There wasn’t a lot of foot traffic but I loved painting outside on the brick patio, barefoot while people walked by and chatted with me. it stand out

I started filling the store space with handmade jewelry which I had been making for over 15 years. I had taken a jewelry making workshop on the Vineyard years ago and after stringing gems on to wire, twisting and turning them with the tools and creating my own first necklace I was hooked! Being a true- Taurean, I have always been drawn to beautiful, sparkly things. I always marveled at exquisite jewelry but never thought I would be able to master the craft. Well, let’s just say that after learning how to source unique beads, gems and findings I had found my passion! It quickly became a side-hustle for me as I started having jewelry pop up shows all over the Vineyard and in Boston. Adding the jewelry inventory to my new store seemed like the perfect fit.

The store then started to fill with up other items from local artists and unique “finds” I would buy at the

Brimfield Antique Show.

Two years later I outgrew that spot and moved closer to Main St. in Vineyard Haven, continuing to host Chalk Paint workshops (over 65 of them) and expand my gift, decor and jewelry sections.

Creativity: I come from a long line of creative women who made things - mostly sewing, cooking and art. I love the challenge of learning a new craft and trying my hand at it. I’m especially drawn to colors and abstract art. Over the past few years I’ve learned furniture painting, resin art, jewelry making and I’m now obsessed with mosaics!

In 2020 things came to a crawl everywhere and especially on Martha’s Vineyard, it was very quiet as we all hunkered down. It gave me time to explore my art and rebrand my business. It felt like a shift was necessary at my store.

I had been in my 3rd and final location in Vineyard Haven on the corner of Union and Main Street for a few years and was loving the steady flow of people and the extra space. Recycled items and painted furniture now took a back seat in the store as I dove more into the world of clothing, jewelry, local art, decor and beauty products. It was time for a new store name - Refabulous Decor no longer seemed to fit with what we were doing.

Along came the new and current name- Coastal Supply Co.

I love it and our new logo created by the fabulous Kay Frank.

Our customers all seem to be embracing our new look and feel and we are constantly getting great feedback on the inventory and art that we carry. Because we are a very seasonal island we tend to be busiest in the summer months. However we love to stay true to the local Islanders and we stay open most days year-round. Yes, it does get very slow during January-March but that is when I can take the time to make more jewelry, plan the year and go to buying shows…oh and travel!

How lucky are we that we do get to cut back on our work hours and take time to unwind and explore the world with our loved ones and friends. The last few years have found me and my family in St. John, the Bahamas, Park City, Costa Rica, Sicily…and most recently to Thailand. I also have found the joy in exploring the Tucson Gem show at the end of January! Not to be missed.

In 2020 I also started a new side hustle; Martha’s Vineyard Home Staging. I had taken an interior design class at RISD prior to this and learned about home staging. I then took an intensive training and certification at an organization down in Nashville, ordered my business cards and set up shop. Four years and nearly 60 jobs later we have grown to be the go-to for local realtors and homeowners looking for a fresh, up-to-date look in their properties. Our inventory of furniture and decor is now very extensive - we can stage roughly 6 houses at a time. It’s such fun and the entire Coastal Supply crew and the Big Sky Tent crew gets involved in the set up and delivery.

I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without the support of an incredible group of ladies at Coastal Supply; Nina (manager), Ruby, Terry, Sandy, Maddie, Hadley, Sophia and Mollee and summer gals, Maddy & Amanda, have gone over and above in customer service and in pitching in. Nina and Ruby have been with me for over 4 years now and literally run my life! We are the true definition of a team and I can’t believe how lucky I’ve gotten with this incredible crew.

All for now - here's to many more years of iterations, explorations and sharing heart-felt gifts and treasures with our customers. I can’t wait to see you at our store, at one of our events or online!
